I have been thinking about this painting I did last year again recently. 🌿🐈🐈‍⬛🌿💙

🎁🐈I painted this as a gift for some people who are very special to me, the cats in this painting are based on their own two very special and dearly loved cats. 🐈‍⬛

🤍🩶In the last 6 months we have had to say our final goodbyes to both of these little fluff balls. They were the luckiest and most well cared for animals I had the luxury to meet.

I am so glad that I was able to create this painting, that it will be something their human friends can look at and remember how adventurous, sweet and just plain silly these two were.

I wanted to share this because it has just reminded me of how meaningful art can be and sometimes, even as an artist, it is nice to be reminded of this. 💙

Last year in mid September I started my (week) daily sketch practice, this is a year long challenge I have set myself and so far, I’ve stuck to it! I share each day’s sketch in my ‘stories’ if you want to follow along!

🧐These sketches are supposed to be quick, 15 - 20 minutes (though sometimes I spend longer) each day to develop my skills, style, personal themes and creative voice.🌿📘✨

💛This is a collection of 11 of my favourite sketches from my first little sketch book. Some are more developed than others but they all have something I find interesting in them. I hope you enjoy looking through them!

I am quite happy with how this work turned out. ☺️
I had an idea of capturing a single moment, containing it whole, in this case, a male Supurb Fairywren’s song caught in the frosty autumn air, surrounded by bright red Fagus leaves. 💙❤️🌿💨

I can savour this moment for as long as want to now.
